Loneliness & Disconnection
Feeling misunderstood, isolated, or like no one sees how hard you’re trying.

Feeling extra hurt or unsettled by criticism, conflict, or the sense that you might have disappointed someone.

WHY ADHD THERAPY?
Therapy helps when you ping-pong between “I can do everything” and “I can’t do anything” and want a rhythm that truly feels sustainable.
ADHD is not a lack of effort. It’s just a different way that the brain manages attention, energy, and motivation. For many teens and adults, ADHD shows up alongside self-esteem struggles, depression, trauma, anxiety, or big life transitions. On the outside, people might see you as inconsistent, scattered, or forgetful. On the inside, it often feels like you are trying twice as hard just to stay in place.
What ADHD can often look and feel like:
- Fidgeting or needing to move, finding it hard for your body to fully relax or stay still
- A restless, buzzy feeling in your body, even when you’re physically tired
- Sleep being all over the place, including late nights, racing thoughts, and waking up already worn out
- Feeling easily overwhelmed or overstimulated by noise, light, or busy environments
- Body tension such as tight shoulders, jaw clenching, or a knotted stomach
- Feeling emotionally drained after small tasks or social interactions
No matter how you feel right now, ADHD therapy in North York can help you work with your unique brain instead of against it.

How We Support You Through ADHD

1:1 ADHD Therapy Sessions
You will meet one-on-one with an ADHD therapist who understands ADHD, listens deeply, and helps you make sense of your patterns, emotions, and day-to-day challenges. Together, we will look at how ADHD shows up in your life, and what you want to be different.

Psychoeducation
We explore how ADHD affects thoughts, emotions, motivation, and energy. Understanding the “why” behind procrastination, forgetfulness, or overwhelm can ease shame, and help you see your challenges as part of how your brain works, not a character flaw.

Executive Functioning Strategies
We co-create tools to support focus, time management, and organization. This might include breaking tasks into smaller steps, using reminders intentionally, building routines, and designing systems that work with your unique brain

Evidence-Informed Modalities
We draw from CBT, IFS, DBT, Somatic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and SFBT, and more. These approaches help you shift unhelpful beliefs, manage emotions, and write a more compassionate story about yourself.

Behavioural Tools & Habit-Tracking
We use behavioural tools, habit-tracking methods, and values-based planning to help you build consistency gradually. Instead of all-or-nothing cycles, we work toward small, sustainable changes that support the life you want.

Mindfulness & Self-Compassion
You’ll learn mindfulness practices to notice your internal experience without harsh self-criticism. We work on treating yourself with the same kindness you offer others, especially when you feel like you have “messed up” or fallen behind.

Strengths-Based Coaching
ADHD often comes with creativity, intuition, and the ability to hyperfocus. We help you identify your strengths, and find ways to use them intentionally in your work, relationships, and daily life, so your future feels more open and within reach.

Worksheets & Handouts
You’ll have access to worksheets, prompts, and planning tools that help you put skills into practice between sessions, track what works, and adjust as you go.
Therapy
is going to feel really good for your unique brain.

HOW ADHD THERAPY Works

Define your direction
We start by getting clear on what brought you here, how ADHD shows up in your life, and what “better” looks like for you. Together, we set goals and create a plan that fits your life.

Understand what’s happening and why
Next, we use conversation and psychoeducation to help you understand how your ADHD brain, emotions, and nervous system work. You’ll start to see patterns more clearly and let go of the self-blame.

Build tools that work for you
From there, we weave in practical strategies, systems, and supports that match how you’re wired, so you can feel more organized, regulated, and in control day to day.

Questions About ADHD Therapy
How do I know if I have ADHD?
ADHD isn’t just about being distracted or forgetful. It can show up in many different ways. You might feel constantly overwhelmed, struggle to focus, procrastinate even when you care deeply about something, or find it hard to follow through on goals. Many adults describe their mind as “always on,” jumping between ideas, tasks, and emotions.
If these patterns have been present since childhood and impact your daily life, it may be worth exploring an ADHD assessment through your family doctor. Whether or not you pursue diagnosis, ADHD therapy can help you understand what’s happening, build executive-functioning skills, and learn practical tools to support your brain.
Can therapy actually help with ADHD?
Absolutely. While ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition, therapy can offer powerful support. In ADHD treatment, you’ll learn strategies to manage inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and the emotional challenges that often come with them; things like frustration, shame, self-doubt, anxiety, or low mood.
Together, we’ll explore ways to work with your brain rather than against it, building structure, self-compassion, confidence, and skills for everyday life.
What’s the difference between therapy and ADHD coaching?
ADHD coaching typically focuses on routines, productivity skills, time management, and behavioural tools. Therapy can include all of that, but it also goes deeper.
In ADHD therapy, your therapist will look at the emotional side of ADHD; how past experiences, perfectionism, trauma, social anxiety, or self-criticism may be affecting your motivation, self-worth, and ability to follow through.
Many people benefit from a combination of both: practical support for day-to-day tasks and therapeutic work to address the patterns that keep them stuck.
Will therapy help if I’m already on medication?
Definitely. Medication can support focus, attention, and impulsivity, but therapy helps with everything around those symptoms: managing overwhelm, regulating emotions, setting boundaries, navigating relationships, and building systems that actually fit your life.
When combined, ADHD therapy and medication often create the most sustainable long-term change.
What if I’m not officially diagnosed with ADHD?
That’s completely okay. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to benefit from therapy for ADHD. Many people begin because they relate to ADHD traits or want to understand their focus, motivation, or executive functioning better.
Whether or not you have a diagnosis, therapy can help you create more clarity, structure, and balance in your daily life, and feel less alone in the process.
How long will it take to feel better?
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all timeline, but we can give a general sense of what many people experience in ADHD therapy.
You may start noticing small shifts, like more awareness of your patterns, a bit more self-compassion, or fewer emotional “crashes,” within the first 6 to 8 sessions. As we continue, we’ll focus on building systems and habits that actually fit your life and your ADHD brain, rather than trying to squeeze you into rigid routines.
Lasting change often takes a few months or more of consistent therapy, especially when we’re untangling long-standing patterns. Even so, early progress can feel encouraging and hopeful, and we’ll keep checking in together about what’s working and what you need next.
Don’t listen to those who say you can’t. Listen to the voice inside yourself that says I CAN.
